My '78 Lola was designed for crossply tyres and very tall profile at the rear, much smaller at the front.
When a race car is very light the crossply stiffness really works for you (I think).
Not sure if radial racing AVON's are best on an oldish race car with some weight to it, but Paul might argue differently!
The single seaters seem to work with the radials, the main difference is that they need more camber and you probably need to play with the tyre pressures, possibly higher to get more sidewall stability. However, BMTR will have the answer, it just takes a phone call

Finished the first corner today. Not bad for a complete novice. Rather chuffed with myself. I won't say it was easy, it wasn't! Many hours and the result of a combination of self taught skills over the last few months. Must get my thread updated.
Very impressive Stephen! - looking forward to your thread update.

A few of the 914 posse met up at Brands Hatch today, for the BTCC season finale.
Stephen (defianty) passenger-ed with me in the GT, and once there we hooked up with Rich (abzadams) who sadly was in a modern today.
