Tangerine 911T restored at home ,,,budget out of the window

before I posted I went though a few threads (mainly from the USA) and it seems the bolt dimples came in at 73 but others said they have dimples on 71 and one his 73 has none.
Just noticed on the other restoration thread on-going, the torque tube has no dimples, so (tangerine) you may have no choice to fit the bolts one way!

Then we can perhaps avoid "dimplegate"

Only kidding .. at least I will check before fastening everything that I get everything the right way around

Just a quick update and a little safety suggestion !

I was doing a little welding a couple of days back and whilst concentrating on my welds hadn't realised that a stray spark had ignited some sound deadening materials that were piled inside my 911 shell

Flames werent too big , but I had a brown pants moment as I panicked about where my fire extinguisher was

Anyway no real damage apart from some paint scorched but it's a big reminder that those fire extinguishers are necessary

Mine only cost £20 each ,, got one in my kitchen ,the other in the garage ........much cheaper than replacing everything in the garage ,,irreplaceable !!

Go out and get one if you don't have one already !

I always have a soaking wet bathroom towel at the ready when welding a shell.

Wouldn't mind if I'd been welding my shell ,,,,,

Was working at the side of the car on something else so hadn't been taking much notice of the car


However 4ft flames soon grab your attention! !

Tbh it was mainly the nylon car covers that were sitting inside the bodyshell that were roaring away

It's amazing how those things can burn ,, I had a few of them but I've put them all in the wheelie bin

I'm very lucky I've only got scorched paintwork ,and when removing the bitumen sound deadening my primer and paints are still intact underneath the charring

Hello all ,,

Long overdue for an update ,but wondered if anyone has a solution for the lost images

Should I Flickr then re load them ?

For info ,, gearbox rebuilt ,, engine rebuilt ,interior remanufactured and paintwork all complete so lots to tell

I'd love to continue the thread ,,but losing previous images sort of put me off ...any suggestions guys?

If you have the patience then Flickr and edit each post with a new link in turn is the way to do it.
It will be appreciated, all threads need pics.

try copy and pasting the old image code from Photo bucket. Still works for me.

Sounds like great progress.

Even if transferring the old pics to Flickr has to wait for another day, please do consider uploading some new ones. Would love to see them.
Also, don't forget to download your old pics from photobucket (or check you have a local copy). Don't want to lose them when PB goes bust!
