I was thinking earrings but if you insist....

How about buying a finished car and then outlawing it yourself ? You know the type of ad, 'Built by engineer, totally concourse, 50 thousand spent, £17,500 ONO.

I am an engineer by trade, and other engineers work tends to make my foot itch..
I have the skills to do things myself, so I tend get stuck in where I can, and learn where I can not - I'd rather build one myself so I know its right, and it means something.. she earns way more than me, so could buy one from someone else herself ;)

I just really hope she's not having a similar discussion on one of her forums about buying me a horse for my 40th

Be nice to sometimes, I need to catch up with your better looking bro on Grand Designs.

Is Aimee related to Tom Hanks? Can you she get me his autograph?

The best thing you are doing is starting with a speedster clinic kit.

my speedster is a speedster clinic floor and sub chassis / bulkhead and it is solid in terms of body flex etc. You can jack the car up and the doors can be opened and closed while on the jack. It is also designed to handle power so as you are putting a quick motor in, it will be worthwhile.

well, its kind of where it was.. in my head! although I've been doing a lot of reading and getting my head around air cooled engines and the weirdness of rebuilding them vs. something with cylinders that are fixed to the bottom end ;)

I have a plan, its now a matter of finishing off my current project and then executing..

Type 4 engine (although I might have to do something with the fan as i think it might look odd) probably around 2.3 / 2.4 litres, running Megasquirt 2 EFI
Manual box
Simple (but not stripped) interior - spyder style seats, carpet, hidden radio, skinny / big steering wheel, etc.
Probably (1954 / 55) Jade Green Metallic paint - #5405.. saw a picture of a 356 in this colour a while ago and amie was all over it - loved it!

then a speedster clinic chassis and a bent screen coupe body!

i'm planning on sorting as much of the "bits" as I can up-front - engine, wiring, seats, clocks, wheels, etc., etc. and stashing things out of sight, then purchase the highest level/spec'd rolling chassis and shell (to save me some of the work) and bolt everything together in some remote lock-up out of sight!

Is ambitious - bravo.

Have you considered a bottle of perfume from Boots though?
