Hello! An introduction from me and my '68 911S

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself on the Forum, and thank those that I have had discussions with so far, and probably thank in advance those that I'm sure I will meet in the future.

Already a 911S registry and PCGB member, I understand the value of the wealth of knowledge out there, and hope I can contribute to it in some way. I'm an Automotive Engineer by profession, and of course, a Porsche-nut at heart, and am now dug-in deep with my latest project: An original German-delivered '68 911S, which I'll try and post a few pictures of below (if I can work out how to use the site properly!). Regards the car, it's a full project, engine and g/box are now out and part-stripped, body is also now part-stripped. Plan to keep going till it's back to bare metal and separated down to it's component parts, then rebuild/restore/replace where necessary. Sounds easy, doesn't it!

It is, Mike. As you have probably spotted, it carries '67 trim strips, which as far as I can tell, seem original to the car.

Yes, and the headlights too to name another feature. As you are probably aware the 68S wasn't allowed into the USA originally so did you source the car in Europe? Or did it go to the USA from Germany?

Hi Mike, thanks. Yes, car was originally delivered to a dealer in Nuremberg and spent it's early life there. Then was imported into the US in the 70's (hence the US indicators). It then stayed with the same family till '88 when it was parked up in a barn until I bought it back here. What appealed to me was that it was an unmolested German-Spec car and still very original when I acquired it, so for me a great basis from which to start with, despite needing a hell of a lot of work to get it back on the road.
