All very nice James, but will they pass an MOT?
They don't have MOT's in the US so it would be "interesting" to see what VOSA think about these lights!

What do they need for an MoT? An E mark? Are they um hot-swappable for MoT day?

Steve Jones at Woodypeck gets a good name amongst the 928 boys. Seen a number of cars with his lamp conversions. Quite impressed.

I think these statements at the bottom of the page answer the legality question :

Disclaimer : All bulbs are fitted and used at customer’s discretion and responsibility!

– All LED bulbs are sold as off road and show use only.

Yes the legal situation is yet another example of where the law is not keeping up with technology.
It also gets on my wick that laws are written so badly. Why do they need to specify 55/60W bulbs when what they actually meant was the lights must not dazzle oncoming traffic.
I have a similar situation with the speed limit on my VW T5 which is limited to 50 national speed limit, 60 dual carriageways just because it is a commercial vehicle and when the law was written the commercials were slower than cars and had significantly poorer brakes, whereas now I can probably stop more quickly than the bl@@dy 4x4 that overtook me!

That's annoying but not hard to understand. From a long time ago for a very long time, there was only one technology and it was obvious and easy to legislate against the wattage of the bulb. It's only in the very recent past that new technology has arrived to produce a lot more light from less power.

And just look at our Jonny's fabulous fuse panel with relays to drive more headlamp current. In two years, noone will need that feature as we'll all be using 30w, gazillion Lumens bulbs!
