I am fortunate to have 2 covers for my 1972 Targa Roll bar one of them i am polishing. One of the studs that holds it to the body behind the doors is missing. What have people done to replace it?
Other question. How do you get access to put a nut on the stud or are they just for locating the cover?

You can get access to the studs from the rear wheel arch. There is more room there than you may think. I don't remember it being a problem !!

Re: 911 Targa Roll bar cover bolts
There's good news and bad news.
I had a broken stud which I replaced by welding in a suitable length 6mm bolt. The cover is stainless but the lug/bracket on the backside took a weld no problem without any blueing of the outer skin.
They do need a nut and washer on from under the wing to pull the cover down tight. Tim is correct that there is enough room to do this....unless it's a 72 targa and the oil tank is in the way on one side. Then it becomes an absolute pain in the arse.

Mines a 72 with the oil filler.
I'll have a look tomorrow at tacking new studs on.
Thanks for the advice.

What fasteners did you use to hold the surround in? I don't want to start electrolytic corrosion by fitting steel to aluminium.
