Lovely car and on my wish list (somewhere). What colour are you painting it? Stick with red, back to green? I always like yellow on these cars ........

Good project!
The force is strong in this one ......

Always happy to post pictures of progress, as long as people are interested. :)

The car will be going back red. 8)

Stopped in today to collect the dash, it has a bad crack from years in the sun. There is an excellent leather restorer who I used for my old T, it will be going to him tomorrow after I clean up the inside of it tonight at home.

You would not believe the amount of paint and filler that was on the car, the bags of debris after stripping the roof probably weighed about 8kg.

Some panels have arrived this morning, small repair sections from classic Alfa, the remainder of the parts are all coming from Alfaholics. I have gone for glass fiber bonnet, boot and spare wheel well, the more weight out of the car the better. I am told they are really good quality and should not be an issue in terms of paint.

Front Panel Late GT/GTV
Door Skin Steel GT Left
Door Skin Steel GT Right
Boot Floor - GT
Alfaholics Glass Fibre Spare Wheel Well
Rear Panel 1300/1600/1750 GT & GTV
Alfaholics Glass Fibre Bonnet
Alfaholics Glass Fibre Bootlid
Outer Door Handle Pair- GT/GTV
GT Rear Side Window Catch - LEFT
GT Rear Side Window Catch - RIGHT
Outer Sill - GT Left
Outer Sill - GT Right
GT Main Door Seal
GT Main Door Seal Right

Some pictures.

The car has had an impact from the rear and the front at some point, all of this will get sorted, new panels and existing straightened.

Stripped the dash of all lights and instruments. The crack will be getting repaired, fingers crossed my guy can work his magic on this.

While the car is stripped its a perfect opportunity to sort the gearbox. It wasn't bad but you really had to ease second gear in at times, it was starting to grate and really only went home if you were careful. Stripped you can see the problem with wear on the synchro ring for second gear, first is showing some wear and both will be changed while its stripped. I will get a full list tomorrow of whats required but expect some bearings
to be replaced at the same time. I was struggling to feel anything while it was rotated but best left to the experts.

Some pictures.

Obvious wear on second gear ring

Just sharing some Alfa love.

To drive, its not a fast car but a car you look to keep up the momentum and carve through the corners. You sit low down, quite surprising how much room for such a small car, they have a lovely noise (mine has sport exhaust). The drive is very smooth on mine again I have spent a fortune on the suspension with Alfaholics and it really is good, the remit was sort how the car connects with the ground and install good brakes. I believe the std car is good and known for being a delight to drive.

Some video's for you. Apologies this will make you want one even more.

What with your posts, Tom
Plus this sort of bad influence from Goodwood today:

I think I now need a 105 Alfa.
This is bad news for the bank account, and also means I am stalking you nearly 100% with car choices!

Balls.

Cheers, Richard.

You are not helping!

Must resist. Must resist.
Until my project car is finished at least. BTW I have been meaning to ask you - surely you still have quite a lot of work to do on your '73 911? Brave choice doing another one in parallel! I admire your attitude. And skills of persuasion (can't imagine getting that past my boss at home).

Cheers, keep posting pics of your restos,
Richard.

Tom

Thanks for the posts over on AlfaBB and now get the connection to DDK - nice car you have there (plus the Porsches of course).

Having read these pages I am encouraged to at least try to hold on to mine if I can, as they are lovely little cars.

My rebuild has taken so long, I am frustrated at not driving it - all exterior done and now for wiring, fuel, seats etc. as inners and engine bay ......

If someone on DDK is serious abut getting a car that needs some finishing then talk to me quickly - or I pop in storage whilst we plan a house move and hopefully I get a double garage next time but more importantly some time to complete the car.
