Re: Headingham; Whos going
As always they were very lucky with the weather and there was a huge amount of early cars.
Great to see mates as always but I do feel it's getting expensive just to look at all our cars parked up in a car park.
This year there were a LOT fewer special cars it seemed parked up at the Castle and the Parade was a total joke and from listening to the auction that looked and sounded like a disaster with almost no bidders and few sales - definitley the wrong venue.
There were a lot of people murmuring its 'just like a PCGB' event now and think they are probably right.
When you compare the cost to go being the same as entry into the Spa Classic or Donington Classic and you've seen the majority of the cars parked up it's a bloody long drive for many of us to wander around a car park.
Still if they keep getting the weather and everyone keeps going it's the biggest gathering of old pork there is so no doubt see you next year!

Re: Headingham; Whos going
That's a really interesting report Jason. It's kind of why I didn't go this year as its a long way for me and I find the event doesn't actually deliver on excitement. These things need a bit more theatre to raise them above PCGB level. I'm glad DDK'ers had a good meet up though. That's got to be a good thing.

Re: Headingham; Whos going
I must admit that I go mainly to catch up with people that I have not seen for a while but I would much rather go to Brands or Silverstone or Prescott or almost anywhere else to catch up without paying £25 just to look at the car park.
It is because people come from all over that makes it worth while. However I must admit that I enjoyed it and weather was great.
Actually I have just thought about this a bit more and actually it was really great and where else could you see so many great cars and meet their owners. I would make a detour just to see one of them let alone hundreds of them.
Will I go again? Of course. I wouldn't miss it for the world.
I think there might have been more exhibits in previous years though.

I've changed the title of this so if you have any pictures post them and we can then put it in the Past Events section.
I had a great day catching up with DDk folk.
It is feeling a little more corporate. I'd be interested in the seeing the auction results. Maybe Classic Porsche fans don't buy at auctions and hence the lack of bidding. Maybe the investors paying big bucks wouldn't think of coming to a show!

Re: Headingham - Classics at the Castle 2015
I know what people are saying about the lack of cars and displays, but for me that's not and never has been the point of going. It must also be incredibly difficult to persuade people to bring their race cars too.
For me it's meeting the people (even you Jason) and if it costs £25 and a four hour drive each way for that then I'm in every time.
This year was one of my favourites as on top of meeting lots of people I got to buy a load of PreA parts, a first in the 8 times I've done it.
