At the weekend I drove the E for the first time since early October, taking advantage of the fact that I have access to a workshop to refit the rear anti-roll bar......only this time I did it myself!
For the sake of originality I went back to a 15mm bar which I purchased in panic thinking something was wrong as I gave my car a beam rear axle when fitting a 16mm bar with too small bushes and no grease!.......the larger bar was actually fine when fitted with proper bushes and felt much like its 15mm cousin, I would have actually kept it if I didn't already have a replacement........bar fitted, the underside looks as good as ever although I wished I hadn't painted it in body colour!

I've been in a bit of quandary lately pondering if the car will actually get properly used now the Mongrel is on the road......friends have been trying to poison my mind by telling me I'll now never drive it and I have admit I couldn't bear to see the car sat doing nothing in the garage for long periods....I have contemplated starting a '
what's it worth' thread, firstly to gauge what a 'real' value would actually be and secondly to flush out any potential interest....for now my heart isn't quite there although time will tell.
On the way back from the workshop the heavens opened although I still went for a proper drive on a couple of my favourite local roads......first chance I've really had to compare my two cars and I surprised myself how quickly I'd forgotten how different they are!.......although cut from the same cloth the E is just so much smoother in every respect, in comparison it's so, so quiet, gearbox is silky and the ride much softer. Those that have rolled with me will testify that the E has plenty of grunt although far it's more progressive than the 2.5.....naturally both cars are very sporting in character although the E is much more of a gentleman's cruiser and is far easier to live with.
After the drive I gave the car a well deserved wash, grinning from ear to ear as I wiped it down....
I have a few improvements and maintenance jobs planned for early Spring so there'll be no excuses for not driving the car plenty come next summer.....it'll be interesting to see if my infatuation with my hot rod has subsided a little by then so that both cars get the use they deserve.....if not a '
