New to DDK, based in Herts/Cambs, Any 912 owners local ?

I'm buying a 1969 912 from the west Coast. Im looking for advice from other 912 drivers. I have a load of photo's and video from the seller that I could do with your comments on which I'll post later today. Any recommendation of shipping would be good. Currently being quoted about £2,100 including picking the car up and taking to LA, but excluding vat @ 5%. (about £750). Shipmycar, Kingstown etc.

Looking to pick your brains at first and hopefully enjoying going for spin once the weather is good again.

Any idea what modifications and costs are required for uk market ?ie: Headlamps, seatbelts, mirror ?

I've used wcshipping from Northern California and Direct Express from SoCal, both cheaper than what you've been quoted.
Also remember the price on the bill of sale is what you pay 5% tax on , along with all shipping costs. Don't forget marine insurance.

Looks like a pretty little thing, first thing you need to do is get that passenger floor sorted out, remember rust never sleeps! Chances are the water is coming through the screen seal, if it's not a genuine porsche seal it won't be formed to shape in the corners and could well be letting water run in and travel down behind the dash and down onto your floors (where it will make short work of eating through them!)

The passenger side floor looks a mess i know, thanks for the suggestion on the screen seal. The owner had just finished washing the car when the video was taken so that might explain the water patch.

Just have to wait and see i guess.

I don't have a 912, but I can't think of anything you'll need to change beyond :

Indicators need to be orange
LHD sugar scoop headlights need to be RHD European spec headlights

Seatbelts wise you'll need something which 'retains the upper part of the body' for the driver and passenger seats, so a minimum of a 2 point belt running from the B pillar to the centre tunnel.

You only need one mirror by law and from memory it can be either side wing mirror or the central rear view mirror.
