Update in the alternator stand oil leak.
After removing the Alternator from the the stand it became apparent why it was leaking oil. The stand itself had work loose, slightly. As there was no gasket just sealant between the joint it has caused the two surfaces to chaff with the vibration from the fan belt. It's more apparent on the underside of the Alternator stand. See pic.
Decided to get some 2mm Nitrile cork to use as a gasket between the stand and engine. Although last minute l decided to get some gasket paper instead. This will compress once tightened up and should stay that that way. The cork may of worked compressed further with the vibration and started leaking again??.
Next up was the throttle linkage bracket. This was tack welded at each end only. One end had a crack so decided to weld across the length of the bracket. Only problem, no tig welder. Time for a favour, then l remember l purchased some Alu weld a few years back at the NEC so though I'd give it ago. Here's the process of how it works.
And the finished job. Really impressed and a really strong joint.
Next up put it all back together and go for a run. Fingers crossed a leak free engine again.
