the diff needs UP dating, with a pin, roll pin, box and the out-put shaft bolts having the end removed, also to fit the parts some of the bits need to be modified to get things to fit,

It will run OK as it is, you will just need to check the flange bolts on a regular bases, to see if the end is worn and about to come off.

If you would like I can see what I have hear to mod the diff, as the box (No'15) is now N.L.A.

What make the spider gear favour one side or the other?

If both wheels are turning at the same speed (i.e straight on) it just stays stationary but rotates as a whole with the side gears. Once the car turns the axle speed changes, the outer wheel turns faster so the spider gear favours that side and vice versa.

Try and make it out of lego and you will be able to see what I mean. Differentials clicked with me when I was building my RC cars in my teens.

Diff is back together, Moral of the story is :

ONLY REMOVE 1 OUTPUT FLANGE AT A TIME !

- I reinstalled the Diff by first fitting the Output Flange (on diff plate side ) on the workbench, and hand tightened the Stretch bolt to make sure the internal gears stayed in place. I installed the complete unit into the Gearbox case, and then installed the other Output Flange. Installing the other Output Flange was tricky as everytime I inserted the Output Flange the Sun gear would drop out of alignment.....but eventually after about the 40th attempt I felt the Sun gear sit into the Planet Gear and all was good. The movement of the Diff feels much better ( actual correct movement !!! ), free with no play...Thanks Mike

- Brakes were bled last night after installing a new master cylinder Banjo...No leaks with a firm pedal !!

- Marek HAND delivered the Oil Tank late last night, 12:10 this morning !!! Think he was delayed discussing 917's with a certain wealthy German customer

Anyway brand new Oil Tank looks great. Marek explained that the surface bulge toward the bottom is not 100% as original, but it is very minor and I am very happy with it...
