You know, every e-bay advert I have seen by PRS advertising 356 cars has been as honest as I would think possible. Often its a full page or more rather than a short paragraph. PRS are worth a call on a regular basis if you are really interested in a 356A. Its a minefield, if the car has non original parts hidden rust and poor mechanicals.

So easy to spend nowdays a spend lot of money and get it wrong.

I know the people from PRS....and indeed they have lots of 356's

The one that was listed last time at ebay was too far gone for me .... so I passed that one...

But also they know that I'm still looking for one

Ok, so little update.

Had contact with Keith Brooks (European service) to buy his car.
I made a proposal (offer) for his nice 356A and he said I will think about it.....

At Sunday he listed it at Ebay :( ....so I can forget about this car.... :( (It's a nice one by the way and matching)

So still looking for a 356A coupe

If anyone knows one for sale, please let me know

Yes I saw this car on another site with many photos and the lower price expectation. It does seem very original for sure. I am not that surprised so many are following that car and the $60k price still has 4 days to run. It does seem to me, the 'A' coupe is following the speedster trend on pricing. Maybe some think its still cheap after seeing quite a few restored 'A' coupe cars up for sale between £90 - £110K recently which means this 60K dollar price still could rise a lot more.

Then again, years ago it would be just a nice original runner, its not a show car, so I am interested to see how far it goes because mine is somewhat similar.

Difficult if you really have set your heart on a 356A coupe, as no doubt the prices of unrestored basket cases or those in dire need of attention will keep rising as well. Then if cash is important with restoration costs for cars like this approaching £40K?? you need deep pockets or the ability to do the work yourself.

Me, I could see a nice fully prepared plastic speedster repro up my drive possibly even with a second hand original 356A engine in the back just to keep me in touch with the 50's. I could look at it from my lounge window and probably be just as happy.

Hello Roy

Tell me about the prices....I know....been looking now for quite some time :(

I also know the replica 356 coupe's BUT it's just not my thing... i prefer the real ones.
Also it's almost impossible to get such replica's here in Belgium on the road due to the strict reglementations.

I think the car of Keith will get somewhere around 75000$

By the way buying a car at ebay is not a good choice for the real Porsche enthusiast like me.... they are always way overbid.

Have you considered this car in the upcoming Race Retro auction?

http://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1957 ... 356a-coupe

Non-matching but looks pretty honest (and very pretty) to this 356 heathen.

I've seen the car yes.

But the same thing as with ebay....with auctions ...these things go always for the big money.....

Not sure that's always the case but we won't have to wait too long to see with this one as the auction is this Saturday. A few DDKers in attendance, too.

It's certainly a pretty car …not so sure about the write-up. Why do estate agents and auction houses write such guff?! Hardly says anything about the car itself.

Anyway, prices are certainly strong nowadays. It's a double-edged sword. I'm pleased they are, given the amount of money I've spent restoring my B. I was offered a very big sum for it out of the blue recently, which, in a way, was a relief. The downside is that if they get too pricey, there won't be any real hobbyists left, just investors.

Good luck with the search Turbo.

So how much did the blue EBay go for?
Does look like a pretty standard example
with strange wheels?!?!

The underneath looks as if it has just had
a blow over to tidy it up ??

Prepared specifically to get the best EBay
price I would say.

Would be interested to know anyway.

Good luck with the search. I bought the
first one I found which certainly continues
to need ongoing TLC ! But I still enjoy driving it!

That was in 1999 and even then there did not
seem to be many available !

Hello

The ebay auction was ended by the seller(Keith).
highest bid was 60100$, but what I have heard is that the car got sold for 70000$

@Phil
YES that's a correct statement you make: "There won't be any real hobbyists left, just investors".

So still looking for a 356A coupe :(

Had a look at this car which sold for £53k in the end. Nice example, needs a repaint at some point but certainly a car to own and enjoy.
