Windscreen cutting.......

Post by ger »

Anyone had any experience of this ?

My screen needs a little easing on one side......Either the cowl is a little out or its the screen, Anyway, I think that a little "shaving on one side, (5mm over 400mm length) will make the fit a lot better,

bit below the blue tape needs to go.....

Is that the right screen for your CMC ??? Maybe you'll get a better response on Speedsterowners as more owners of the CMC on there.

Is it toughened or laminated? I have used a glass file to tweak windows to fit before - depends on the finish? I had a windscreen cut from another model's screen once - sounds complicated but the local windscreen place did it. Was a good few years ago now though. Might be worth a go?

Today I watched a very clever guy accurately cutting slivers off of my screen.......Not totally perfect fit but a LOT better !

Local Plant glazing specialist, came to me did the job in the back of his van!

Curved screens Pahhh, easy!!! All you need is a glass cutter, fancy pliers, a blowtorch and a blade.......(oh and 20yrs of training and lots of skill....) :)
