DDK @ the Nurburgring 2005

DDK @ the Nurburgring 2005

Chaps and Chapesses,

The 2005 opening dates for the Nordschleife have been posted on the official nurburgring website (http://213.239.207.198/nuerburgring.de/ ... id=275&L=1) and as such I will be planning a long weekend trip to visit the "Ring" in the coming weeks. I will be going with a band of like-minded individuals in various cars ranging from a humble vintage mini, to a Ferrari 355 and this is a quick note to gauge any interest from fellow DDKers, ate at present is anywhere between May and August but will firm that up in a few weeks

The trip will most likely involve a ferry from Dover/Ramsgate area, and then the drive across Belgium (across some of the bumpiest and most boring road in Europe) to the Ring. Likely to involve taking either a Thursday and Friday, or Friday and Monday off work. Hotel in Adenau is the favourite accommodation.

Please reply to this thread if you're interested.

That's odd because mine has suggested I 'go & get it out of my system'

Ian you can bring what you like and meet us there, haven't got the prices sorted yet (depends on the dates)

Figure 75 for the ferry, 150 ish for the accomodation 75-100 for laps, then add petrol and food, not the cheapest weekend but should be a lark!

Hmmm.... I have to say I'm very interested in this one and you only live once.

Please can you add me to the list of 'possibly's' - just so long as it's not too close to either Le Mans or the August DDK event in the North, I'm sure I will be able to pick a good moment to get my pass stamped :P .

I would love to come in my 911, it won't be ready in time though.

Keep me in the loop, just in case.

OK chaps, more details:

The plan is to go for the weekend on May14th -16th. (could potentially leave on the friday to make things less hectic)

Get an early ferry on the Saturday, drive straight to the Hotel (It takes circa 5hours to get to the Ring from Calias/Dunkirk) and check in, then on to the Ring for a couple of late laps. Have all day Sunday at the Ring and 4 hours or so on Monday morning, then drive back for a late ferry.

Ring opening hours:
14.05.2005, Saturday von 08:00Uhr bis 19:30Uhr
15.05.2005, Sunday von 08:00Uhr bis 19:30Uhr
16.05.2005, Monday von 08:00Uhr bis 19:30Uhr

Note this is one of the few weekends in the year when the ring is open all day Fri-Mon so is likley to be busy.

I've not booked the ferry yet, but its going to be around 100-200.

Accomodation will be in one of the many guesthouses in the Adenau area and cost is circa Eur50 a night

I have not booked anything yet as I'm waiting for my useless mates to get back to me, but if there are some people definately interested on these dates I'm happy to act as group booker. If you are DEFINATELY interested please let me know. I'll be looking to book at the beginning of March.
