Well as those of you who frequent all of the sub groups of this forum will know I have had another little ripple in the tale of the 'Doctors Car', namely Deep Water Horizon 2, when (as it seemed at the time) 100kB of oil were puked from my engine all over the shroud and down over the SSI's just as I pulled into a petrol station for my first fill after getting my MOT.

Turns out there was no one to blame but me .... Numpty of Newdigate had.....
a) over-filled the oil tank
b) connected the crankcase breather hose to the wrong outlet on the oil tank

Thankfully the only outcomes were..

a) oil all over the engine (easily cleaned)
b) another engine out and back in while I checked everything (no big deal now with a team worthy of a McLaren pit squad)
c) learning that an oil thermostat from a 72 engine will not fit in a swb engine (but the original was ok anyway)
d) loss of personal credibility with the local garage, and Tony Outridge (nothing new)
e) lots of grief from the people filling up at the petrol station (understandable, but "NO I'm not going to start and move my f**king car while gallons of oil are dripping from the engine")

Anyway, all sorted, got it polished and the bling fitted (apart from the side trim - tomorrow), and a few drives to flush out the last of the oil from the SSI's.

Truly amazing. I remember seeing that car at Tony's (I assume it is that one) not that long back and could not believe it is the same car now - WOW !

Your car is a credit to you. It looks fantastic. Glad you sorted out the oil slick. I know it's a real downer when you have a potentially major issue after all that work, it feels like a punch in the stomach.
