Chesil Configurator

Post by shambly »

I've been working on a Speedster Configurator as a bit of fun (and as a javascript learning exercise).

Heres a link:

http://www.chesiloutlaw.com/configurator

It needs a standards compliant browser (recent Safari / Chrome / Firebox) so IE users will need IE9 (I plan to add support for IE6-8 via a canvas emulation library if it runs quickly enough) - no flash here. Hence it will also run on an ipad/iphone except the animations are too slow so I plan to add code to automatically turn them off when used on those platforms (not done yet).

Anyway feedback, additional presets (give me the 8 character code it displays) and new accessory suggestions welcomed. I'll see what I can do.

Simon,
Tried this the first time round when you posted with no success. Just tried it again and success. Nice little tool. Sent you my pre-sets with a few mods.

Rich,

Have you changed browsers since you first tried?

I've added your configuration as allowed for today and i'll try to add your suggestions shortly - the carrera mirror will be a pain as body coloured.... but doable

I should add that this works quite happily on iOS devices and has an icon if you add it to your home screen. Also trying to make it work when without an internet connection (as a cached web app) but this is currently triggering my host service's port-under-attack heuristics! (too many parallel file requests from the browser...)

Works fine ....it asked for a 8 character password I gave it ..... Snow white and the seven Dwarfs

I had a look at your web site very nice ,I like the video of the Le Mans parade laps looks like you almost did the TON but traffic slowed you down in places .Does not hang about the car very impressed.

Cheers guys,

Just updated the configurator with Rich's preset

And added:

Better colour match for Rich's speedster
Carrera Mirror option
Shine-up numberplate light option
Black (and white) wide-5 wheel options (and moved hubcaps to separate tick box)
White front indicator now default (with amber option)
rat look paint option

Enjoy!
