565 NOK Rechtslenkung Survivor - just about....
Thought it about time I introduced one of my projects, a 1960 356B first registered as YOB 3 and has been through several plate changes since. It appears to have been through numerous owners over the last 20 years each of whom has dismantled more and more from the car and then passed it on.
It left the factory in silver with a red interior and this hopefully is the same spec it will leave my ownership.
I have some history but if anyone knows the car then please let me know.
As it arrived in the workshop,
Floors long since removed
From Underneath
The engine as it arrived in
Then I got stuck in, Suspension, wiring and all remaining items stripped from car
Car is mounted to a trolley
Door gaps still seem amazingly good but are braced until strength can be returned to the shell
Off to be Soda Blasted
Floor ready to be fitted after many trial fits
Mounted to the Rotisserie
Over she goes
Front chassis rails, bulkhead and cross-member replaced
New battery box in place
Front inner wings and nose fitted
Engine Lid stripped and in good shape.
A bit done - lots left to do....

Hi
the workmanship looks very good but it might be worth checking the clearance between the shifter linkage and the inside of the floor as it looks like you may have fitted an A rear floor, a B floor dishes down under the coupling to give more clearance, Bill

Thanks, I noticed it was slightly different from the profile of the rear ledge so I left the centre section of the rear floor un-welded and intend to heat it up and form the dish before finishing the welding.Dakota wrote:Hi

There have been a few other areas where panels haven't been a perfect fit and have required adjusting and I expect there to be more before the job is done.
Cheers

Jon,
You have been very busy. A lot of nice work there. In 1992 YOB 3 was registered on a 1963 356B super 90 owned then by a R.P. Parsons. I wonder if he still has that car? He belonged at that time the PCGB. No doubt the number is valuable although I remembered it purely because of the 'YOB' connection.

I believe the 1963 car is still around but I don't know if it still retains that plate.roy mawbey wrote:Jon,

Heat duct brackets repaired and Inner sections coated with Zinc primer
Rear section around the heater duct exit fabricated and repaired
Don't forget the heater ducting!
Longtitudinal (sill) fitted
Jacking Point in place
And closing panel fitted
Repeat for the otherside
Both Longtitudinals in place and starting to look very solid again.

Hi Jon,
I was the owner of this car about two years ago. I sold the project to a guy called Jon who lived in Cumbria I think.
I bought the car from a chap called Chris Wren, he had dry stored the car since the early 1990's. I also purchased 3 more 356's from him, When I bought the car he couldn't remember who he got it from, but he did mention that it may have come from Barry Curtis. The car has been in the state you bought it about 20 yrs. I didnt strip the engine, the front end has always been missing, I think it is a matching number car though?
PM me if you want any more info.
Thanks Dave.
