Case Machining

Post by Luke »

Anyone have any recommendations for UK machine shops that can deal with Porsche cases/heads?

I've found these guys in Holland (http://www.ahnendorp.com/porsche2.html) but can't find anyone in the UK, just trying to price a few things up...

You could try these altho I have no experience other than Stateside is a very busy shop.

Ahnendorp did all my machining years ago, I went there, but the head work was not too good (valve seat came loose) I had a dodgey camshaft off him and a timing gear stamped with the wrong reference point.
Having said that he was a nice guy, but he would be as he was taking my money.

There is Klaus also in Germany

Luke I have a contact in Ringwood for the cranks I will try and dig out the number. Saunders I think they are called I will speak to my mate later next week.

I would ask if he does 911's though, I know he has done flat 4's.

I have used stateside and found them to be very good and quick when I had my heads done on the 14. Although when the heads were delivered back to me I was not expecting to find swarf left on them!! (I would note that i did only have the seats done and I was fitting new valves so guess if I had had the whole lot done it would have been cleaned etc)

Owslebury Crankshafts in Winchester have done 914 and 911 valve guides and seats for me, quick service and not expensive, I'm not sure if they do case machining. I use Bassett Down Balancing near Swindon for - surprisingly - balancing.
