Car starts....but!
Engine runs like a dog but at least it runs now.
Can anyone tell me why the rev counter sits quite high compared to the actual revs which are quite low? Doesnt take much to send it off the gauge!
Also, the oil light glows unless its rev'd and even then only dims/flickers.
I have the original VW sender plugged into the side of the t piece/extender.
cheers
Paul

On the rev counter:
Is it a 4 cylinder tach or aftermarket set to 4 cylinder?
Fresh points / condensor?
Point's gap / Dwell angle set correctly?
The second two might also fix the rough running.
Best to give the engine a full service if you haven't already.
The oil light could be due to a knackered engine. How is the end float? (push & pull the crank pully). It only takes about 5psi to kill the warning light. Less than 5 psi is as good as zero oil pressure.
Or (based on personal experience, light flickered at idle, went out when revved) it could be a duff sensor.

its a west tacho - from Vintage Speedsters.
Will check the point etc thanks for tip. I suspect dodgy sensor as the engine has been rebuilt and the float is fine. think it probably needs a damn good tune - carbs especially.

Faulty Tach
A couple of years ago I had the same problem with a vintage speedsters rev counter. After speaking to them they admitted that they had a faulty batch and sent me another one. Could be the same problem? Rob

i might try to get the tacho fixed locally if they are this poor!
Cars gone - a few pics before and en-route! 6 weeks and hope to have Kev back all road legal and ready for interior!!

....and he's gone for a while.
Things I want Arden to do:
apply for IVA now with aim of 4 weeks to complete.
Tune engine and carbs
Sort a couple of leaks = both darn rocker covers were leaking as I drove it onto the trailer
Tidy/check wiring
Fit seats and complete 'iva' interior
post test - register it.
Fit bumpers and trims and chrome fog/reverse lights/mirrors etc
collect with a huge smile (although waiting for price so may change lol).
Next a final main build steps - get Gary to do the interior, fit screen, fit roof.
