A very well executed evocation of the 1973 RS, ground-up rebuilt by a well regarded Porsche specialist and with just 1800 miles since.
The car is built around a 1978 911 SC rebuilt and restored in its original colour to evoke the classic RS. It was built as a demonstrator for an Essex based 911 specialist and as such was done with no expense spared. Everything mechanical was rebuilt and refreshed, from the engine and gearbox through to the suspension and brakes. The bodyshell was stripped bare of all components and restored with new panels as necessary and, having covered such low mileage since, is utterly solid and as clean underneath as it is on top.
The car drives brilliantly. The free-revving 3.0 litre motor makes an excellent job of capturing the sensations of the earlier car but with more modern reliability and robustness and the rebuilt gearbox shifts sweetly enough to teach those who talkdown the 915 box just what a lovely thing it can be. The car behaves impeccably on a gentle cruise and dances its way through corners with agility and lightness when pressing on.
There are numerous RS replicas and Evocations in the market place, of very varying standards and values and we always think hard before selling one that we haven't built ourselves, especially when built around a later car. But one look and one drive of this was ample to convince us it was miles apart from most of the rest.
If the RS look isn't for you (and we won't judge you on this) it would not take an awful lot to convert the car into a more subtle early 70s style car in the mould of this : http://www.paul-stephens.com/gallery/Po ... 4-E-RHD/97 We are happy to price and undertake this work should a buyer want us to.
Otherwise, this car is absolutely on-the-button and ready to enjoy.
