A lovely left hand drive 1967 911 coupe, imported from Texas in 2008 and the personal car of a well-known Bugatti restorer since.
The indicated 88,000 miles looks to be genuine, supported by a folder full of receipts together with the original service book and driver's manual.
The car is thoroughly sound and, being a dry state car, is largely unrestored, lending it a lovely patina. It can be bought as it stands or at the 'Approved' price with a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic overhaul.
1967 was a unique model year for the 911, the last with the early dials with green numerals and chrome bezels and the first with the brushed aluminium dash trim. These features make the interior one of the most appealing of the early cars, especially with this car's red seats and door cards.
The light ivory colour is the original and with the early steel wheels with chrome hub caps the car looks utterly period perfect.
The 130bhp 2.0 litre flat six revs eagerly and propels the lightweight car along at a surprisingly brisk rate, easily the match for most modern traffic, and once the driver is used to the dog-leg first gear, gear changes can be brisk and pleasant. The steering is light and accurate and the four-wheel disc brakes strong and progressive. Driving an early car is a classic experience, but not one hampered by slow progress and a tricky drive.
The short-wheel-base cars are the 911 at its most pure and a good, solid example in as pleasing a colour scheme as this car makes a fine classic 911. We're absolute suckers for early cars on steel wheels.
