This is going way off topic now!!!
Just to bring it back I've got the cable in now but when I pushed the pedal it sounded like it was catching at the pedal end and the accelerator was sticking! So I stripped it all down again (don't you just love old cars?) and found that this was broken

Well it's all back together and working again! Rich dropped me off a spare plate to replace the one that was broken on Friday morning (thanks again your a star :notworthy:). So today I set to work, got it all back together to find it still wasn't right, guess what it had to come to pieces again  I noticed as I was building it back up that the fuel pipe was over the top of the pedal shaft so I gently forced it down clearing the way of the pedals. this time it all went together much better (good job as I was starting to get very fed up with it, I think the threat of setting fire to it helped ) I adjusted up the other end under the car and heypresto all working easy peasy!!
Now I'm going to write to Zentrum who fitted the last one and charged me £200 for the pleasure and for two cables (one a Porsche one that they sent back but still charged me for it!) anyway thanks to all of you for your help and encouragement till the next time/thing
