Proving age of engine / IVA/DVLA forms
Hi guys
how do I go about proving the age of the engine (for IVA emissions purposes)?
Also I am running a 1641 with twin port carbs. I believe I also need to know engine power too. Any ideas where I can find this.
Also what category is the build classed as? I am assuming amatuer build (A) rather than Rebuild (R)?
2 seater? I won't be testing with 4 but may go to 4 post test...
Any other IVA/DVLA form filling tips appreciated! Packs are on the way...
Planning to complete the build by mid march (assuming I get the car back in next week or 2), test by end march, DVLA reg end April....heres to dreaming anyway!
thanks

Yep got the donor logbook - 1641cc on it. Its an 08/70 1300 Beetle.
Have spoken to DVLA and they are sending out a pack. Also VOSA are sending the IVA1 form. Going to try to get organised ahead of getting the car back so that I can concentrate 100% on completing the 'IVA' build.
You finished with those seats yet Rich?
- I can come a get them whenever suits you...

You can buy mine from chesil, only used them for the test. What else do you need??
If it's got 1641 cc on the log book and the numbers match that your proof of age. If they don't do what l pm'ed you. Basically your v5 is your proof of age if the numbers match.

have you got a harness in now then?
Yep I'll take the belts too
I have the fog and mirror. Even have a steering wheel that I hope is legal for IVA!
Do you have an interior mirror? I only have the rod mounted screen mirror - I need one as I'll be testing without a screen. As the dash top will be leathered, can screw it down - or use a sticky pad...

I assume I have 2 in the box! Are these what you tested with?
Luckily the holes will match my post IVA mirrors
I'll check the box later!

Difficult one that, i've just tried a dash mounted mirror (took my off and positioned it to the dash and you get restricted view because of how low the dash is compaired to the rear hump in the bodywork behind the rear seat area) just checked the iva manual, it says;
NOTE 3: If an interior mirror does not provide the required field of view, a nearside exterior mirror meeting the appropriate field of view requirement must be fitted.
I went through the test with the centre / drivers door mirror. simlular to these https://www.europaspares.com/MIRRORS/EX ... _6618.html
They have a few dash mounted mirrors, have a lookinthe mirror section.
I'm not far from the test centre next week so will pop in and ask...

Quick q - again!
Do I need to update the logbook with the chassis number or is this done as part of the registration? I understand it needs to be something like :
PILnnnnnnnnnn2011 (PIL is Pilgrim then 2011 the build completion date)
Also checked the logbook and the engine number is not the same as the engines, even though it accurately reflects 1641. Rich, got your idea about making up a plate, but I would imagine the engine (number) on the logbook was either sold on (and may exist in another vehicle) or has been scrapped. Is it worth getting the log book updated with the correct engine number before I start sending forms off etc??
ALSO - is it worth getting a rubber gasket for the horn grilles? Anyone know where I can buy from? Mine haven't got any on.
