No, we didn’t try the various filtration options on the rolling road.

I drove the car a few miles to a photo shoot with the tea balls and it felt/performed slightly differently. Not much but enough to feel it would benefit from different settings. So, faced with the idea that switching to different filters meant altering Bob’s good work, I’ve resolved to leave alone. I’ll consider the mesh filters for ‘show’ only.

Was just penning an email Paul with the same question.....sounds very sensbile, I think I would be nervous too just having an old pair of tights from sucking stuff into the carbs!!!

My super-fulljames-mega-build-motor will be finished in a short while, it'll be interesting to see what it achieves. It's 2.7 on MFI with high compression (10.x:1). It's on single spark initially. It'll get run-in then rolling roaded. Then I'll add TS as a subsequent upgrade.

It's a substantial rebuild, so I am looking forward to the results. When I get the picks, I'll post the details and the story of my first 9 months of ownership in a sep thread.

Sounds great Graham. You'll love it. He builds a good engine that boy.

My super-fulljames-mega-build-motor is running sweet now after Bob's attentions.
I've got a track-day at Silverstone on Tuesday and I'm looking forward to using all those RPM's. I can't wait.

Well the track day proved to be fantastic. Superb weather, glorious sunshine, lovely and warm, track dry as a bone.
The circuit is real premier league stuff and me & the car just loved it.

I learnt plenty about the car and had a fabulous time on the circuit.
I discovered the car likes the accelerator mashed right into the floor and it loves a good hard stomp on the brakes.

So, I've been out for about half a dozen sessions and it's the last slot before lunch.
My pace is getting quicker and it's all coming together nicely.
The Michelins are fabulous, they hold on and on and on. Sticky when warm.

Superb tyres.

And then.... ...I'm thundering down the Hangar Straight. It's the fastest part of the circuit and I'm flying along and all of a sudden... bang!
It was one of those sickening moments when you don't know what's happened but it sounds bad.
I heard a clatter under the car and then a rifle shot and a puncture.
Incredibly I'm right near the pit lane and can pull straight off the circuit and stop.
It appears I hit some debris on the track. I admit I never saw it and don't know what it was. My gaze was further ahead.
This was the result.

That rather put an end to my racing for the day.
I obviously didn't have a spare 9" rim and tyre with me.
Nick Moss kindly took me around the local specialists (including Fearnsport - some nice cars in their workshop) but no one had any suitable tyres.
In fact they all were quite bemused that you'd be using 15".

So, I was faced with trying to get my space saver working and limping over 100 miles home at a snails pace....
