If the red one is worth more than £400 I'd be shocked. A guy here has just bought a tidy H plate for £800, the one in the picture is a long, long way from tidy!smallspeed wrote:huge grin factor driving one of those.. unfortunately they're outside mine and my mates joint track-car budget (tantalisingly close though)

we're looking at 6-700 max budget and hoping to sell what gets stripped out to fund some sticky tyres and a new disk for the angle grinder so it can be "lowered". i will be less inclined to thrape something thats 1/2 reasonable or is made from expensive bits for fear of breaking it
i think i might have found a tidy 924 up north for a cool £500 so will probably head up there over the weekend and take a look.. mot, tax, loads of work done, low miles, solid shell, etc., etc.. should be a good basis, although not sure what 924 seats and carpet are worth.. should be enough for a smallspeed special "ghetto lowering kit" but maybe not the sticky tyres aswell
watch this space..

Think you'd struggle getting a solid 924 that would last a few track outings for the that budget. What about a MkII GTi, loads to choose from, cheap to modify and pretty cheap and plentiful to maintain. They're always in scrap yards for that wing or suspension arm you've just bent ramming the tyre wall.
