Morning and hello

Post by the apprentice »

Just thought I'd post a quick hello now I've finally registered properly - I've been lurking around on here for a while :)

My name's Phil and I'm in the final stages of a speedster replica build (apolgies to the purists :) )

Thanks Bootsy - what happened to your replica? I remember seeing the magazine article and I emailed you a couple of times about the flat fan conversion (I'm on VZi as the vdub apprentice), but I've not seen it around since then.

Here's some fairly recent pictures, but i've done a bit more since these ere taken

Spec:

Speedster Clinic replica speedster bodyshell
Mounted on a 1967 beetle donor chassis
AT code 1303s gearbox
IRS converted with adjustable front beam & anti-roll bar
Brakes are 944 discs and calipers all round
Wheels are re-chromed Porsche 912 rims supplied by Karmann Konnection
Gauge set from Vintage Speedsters
Engine is a 1600 twin port from a 1303s
Custom stainless steel exhaust from turbo thomas
(currently collecting the parts for a 1914)

The only problem at the moment is that I don't seem to get any time to spend on it, so it's VERY slow progress :(

Cheers, Phil

Looking good, looks great with 912 wheels and 5 bolt brakes.

I sold my Speedster many moons ago and have never heard of it since!

You just can't beat the looks of the 356 plastic or not. I think it looks very nice and I bet you grinned when you got the MOT!
