I was out for a putt on my old '48 Harley, destination was Guildford cos there is a new Harley dealership there and what a great place it is too. Very similar to US dealerships in style and space. Had a lusting drool over all the new mosheens and headed off for home. Cruising at a nice 5oh I hit an aberration in the road. It was'nt even a pothole but somehow the shock ripped out all the spokes on the left side of my front wheel. The wheel immeadiately canted over to the right steering me into the other lane. I could'nt brake as I was using all my strength to keep it in straight and hold her upright. The tyre was rubbing hard on the inside of the mudguard which really slowed me down fast and came to a stop just in my lane. Phew, a wild ride. I have breakdown cover with insurance so I got on the phone a gave them my 20 and then I waited and waited and waited. It was about 5 when my dear better half who unknown to me had decided to go shopping in Guildford - thank heavens. Vaguely recognising my old HD which I had dragged to the side of the road, she stopped and so I got a lift home. I stuck the bike in a local guys drive and got it back next day - Sunday onto my pickup with the aid of my engine crane. That was a great weekend and obviously did'nt do a great deal of work on the 356. I went back to check the road and it was a section where the surface had eroded and dropped down away from the existing roadway. In a car no big deal but on two wheels . . . be careful out there.

Glad to hear you are ok and im sure the insurance can sort the old hog. Great looking bike and saw a few very early ones at wheels day this year with the shift on the tank like yours.
