I like it. Do 15 mins of invoicing and accounts, get bored, work on bike. Life is good.

Fox Talbot. Riding atop his head is a chimp with cape and flying goggles. I bought Talbot off eBay just before they banned hunting. He wards-away evil vegetarians.

I just sized-up the new lump, and in time-honoured tradition of all overcook engine transplants, the chassis is going to need a bit of abuse with an angle-grinder in order to get it fit properly. Ugh.

Big engine is in. Everything fits except the exhaust, although I have a plan for sorting that.

I started it up and it's a beast! Thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump...

I also did a single-seat conversion, so it will end up looking like a slight scruffier version of this, only with a bit more motor hanging out each side :)

I'm loving this, although a bit distressed to see how seriously you're taking our Goodwood Challenge  .

Trouble is, I've already 'big-bored' the Cyclemaster from 25 to 32cc, and fear there's little more capacity available. Miniature turbo perhaps :? :?: :P .

Remind me: how do(es) you / it get the gears, and does this change with this new engine?

Oh Barry, you really are going to eat dirt. I now have over THREE TIMES your cc'age, two more strokes, CDI and a new rear tyre, ready for the burnout that will afford me the outstanding grip that will propel me to a surefire victory over your CycleMaster-of-disaster.

Regarding gears, the 107cc is the biggest Lifan make with a semi-auto. You still have to shift, but there is no clutch. The old engine had three gears (1-Neutral-2-3), with 1 being absolutely ridiculously low so you can get up Mt Fuji with a crate of plastic gift-shoppe merchandise strapped to the back. The new engine has four gears (Neutral-1-2-3-4). The new Chinese engine is such a blatant copy of the Honda lump that I was able to reuse the original shifter and kick-starter.

The only problem I'm having is that the air filter fouls the front mudguard. I might run with some gauze jubillee-clipped over the intake - it's not like it's an expensive engine that I'm going to take on the Dakar.

I was tempted by a 125cc motor with manual clutch, but decided it's not really in keeping with the Super Cub philosophy. Plus, I would still have only drum brakes to stop the thing once I had hit 130mph.

A turbo is too modern for the CycleMaster. You should so see if you can source a mini screw-type supercharger. That would be hilarious. Do it!

I'm liking that idea, although packaging might be an issue, trying to fit it all inside the rear hub  .

I'd forgotton about the centrifugal clutches on the Honda's. Mine has a proper clutch because it's for grown-ups ... , then again it only has one gear (because it's for dim grown-ups).

Time's getting on, I'm going to have to get the thing out and see what sort of a state it's in. Same goes for the little Duke as well  .

Looking forward to reading about the road test Jamie :P .

Spent today on the electrics. Replaced the 6v rear light with an MSA rain light placed inside the lamp housing so it looks original. It's on a resistor to dim it down a bit, then when you press the brake pedal, the resistor is bypassed and it shines really bright.

The front is just a standard 15w/22w car brakelight bulb. I might add a second 'driving lamp' to the front with a 55w bulb in it.

Fitted new wiring for the indicators (it didn't have any). They'll be LED :)
