I have had my pan and shell dipped and e-coated on my Bug and wanted to have this done. All the VW boys are warning me off and telling me to either paint or powder coat, but I an leaning more this way as I think it will protect the car more and I kinda like the more mordern feel to it.
I know that Wurth make a product that replicates the factory rubberised coating that it is sold in a spray kit, I think Frost stock it. The only problem I have heard is that if it is not applied correctly and starts to peel then water gets behind and you have a whole host of potential rust issues.
I used this stuff from the US after first applying the company rust encapsulator coat which is similar to por-15.
