MFI Help - Professional, that is.

Post by declang »

Right folks,
I've posted something similar before, but nothing has changed since then;

I've finally decided I do need professional help.
No, not for my addiction to Porsche, for my porsche itself.

I live in Ireland, up in the NW corner.

I have a 1975 911, 2.7 which was converted to mfi.
It needs MFI tweaking, and I'd like to get it done "right"

I thought, OK, I can do that, and read the famous MFI manual fa few times. (I even bought a leakdown tester !)
That was a few months ago, and all I've done in that time is check the airflow from heat exchanger to the thermostat :(

I think now I should take it on the ferry & get some good guy in uk to "sort it out".

If nothing else, it will give me a good starting point.

If I arrive on the ferry into scotland (stranraer), then where should I be headed for ?

I know the way to Cumbria.... Mike Bainbridge ?
Is it worth the long drive south to get to Bob Watson ?

Is there anyone else I should be considering ?

OR <--- Thats a BIG or ...

Should I be thinking of taking the car to someone, leaving it with them for a few weeks to evaluate & do whatever work is required. and then collecting it again ?

As you can probably tell, I'm a bit unsure what will be needed.
A same-day "tune-up"
A few days thing .. yes, ok, I can do that at a push
A few weeks to diagnose, get parts & sort out .. OK, prob easier from ireland ?

Any advice & suggestions welcome :)

Thanks

You really need to set the MFI up on a rolling road. Call Bob and take it there.

Bob watson every time, it's not just the stuff he sorts that you asked to tosort, it's all the other stuff he finds on the way. money well spent in my opinion.
former owner, still hoping to be reunited with my STOLEN 1972 911T/E 2.4 . Keep looking guys

Ooops.
Just realised I never replied to say thanks folks.

so

"thanks folks".

I'll give Bob a call & arrange a trip over.

A nice 360 mile run down from Scotland should blow the cobwebs out, especially on a non uk reg ;)

another change of plans ..
I'm digging in myself now & hopefully I'll get it pretty close so it'll only need a little tweaking when I get around to bringing it to Bob's
