Mine was just as bad as this one if not worse. I'm with mad I actually think this could be a good project for some one to get stuck into, yes its rotten but how many 356 projects have you seen that are solid for anything less than crazy money. In all the build up pictures in Ive ever seen it seems they all need major floor and longitudal surgery along with door alighnment and fabrication of custom panels even on supposedly good cars. I guess what I'm trying to say is once you start digging around in any 356 resto project they all require alot of those expensive repair panels if you are going to do it right. at least this car dosen't look like its been though any previous bad resto work. I agree it does seem a little steep for a project but how often do 356 projects come up for sale in the uk. I would say if you want to restore a car for finacial gain just forget it. There are much easier ways to make money. By the time mine is finished it should be worth a few grand more than I have spent but I will doing all the work myself and I itend to enjoy it as it is my hobby afterall.

Yes the disc brake wheels make it a C, unless it has been modified to take discs.
Regarding this project, apart from the cost in time as well as money wouldn't it be better to restore something more interesting?
After all it is a "B" the most common 356 made.

huh!!!
they are much better to look at than c's who have the straight bonnet..larger rear window, twin grill and generally look more 70's like, to me anyway. Id much rather do a t5 than a t6 anyday.
B's are more basic to drive and simpler mechanics. Not so modern, but more 'mechanical', just how I like 'em.
'common' doesnt mean much when there are hardly any being driven in the UK anyway
a's are gorgeous but sadly have a skyhigh price.

Rather than distinguishing between B and C I'd say go on body shape i.e. T5 or T6, and on that I'd definitely agree with Rustbucket - T5 anyday over T6 - only my opinion though

Calm down, I was only messing!
Remember I have both the "common" T5 and T6 shape and I meant common in 356 terms.
I still prefer the T6 shape though, I think the curve of the bonnet is nicer.
Don't take it as an insult, it's just my taste.

IMO all shapes of 356 are cool and worth restoring. I would say that though as I have a common as muck shitty old t6 and you just see them on every street corner.

I had a rhd 356 back in the day.

I stole some bits off it to put on my beetle then cut it in half with a grinder, so it would fit on my trailer, so I could take it to the tip .

In my defence I was only 18 and it was quite rusty
