.Change of plan today. Thought that I didn't really want to re-mask for the polishing (takes quite a bit of cleaning afterwards, particularly the interior), so thought I'd try polishing it today.
I'd left some decent heat on overnight, and had used a fairly fast hardener, and sure enough it was hard enough this afternoon to polish. In the end I used 1000 grit, which is seriously course really. Nevertheless, spraying in this environment is less than ideal, both from a clealiness point of view, and having enough light to see how the paint is going on. Nett result is lots of dry areas, and lots of bits. The usual 1500 grit wasn't enough to cut through this lot, so I used the 1000 until the dry areas had almost gone, and then used the polisher with water and G3 compound.
Still a plenty of ripples, but certainly do for now ...
Just the bonnet, rear number plate panel and bumpers to do. I'll re-polish the whole car a few times during the week as the paint settles, and again in a month, and perhaps during the winter as well. Each time will be less and less until the paint is as flat as poss.
Hopefully start fitting the car up tomorrow.....
