gulf blue 1973 914............SOLD

Post by Helen »

Rebuilt engine c/o Crispin Manners at Oaktree) - new crank, con rods, barrels, pistons, much modified heads, new 48 DRLA carbs, Patrick Motorsport 4 into 1 equal length header exhaust with stainless cherry bomb silencer (like loud), reconditioned alternator in 911 cooling fan set-up. Runs a remote oil cooler with fan. New coil and distributor with petronix electronic ignition. 3.2 911 front struts an redrilled rear hubs for 5 stud - new 5.5J Minilites and tyres. New rear shocks, front and rear indiactor/side lenses replaced with new, new halogen headlamps, new battery, new spotlights. Had a new 4 puck sintered (sprung)clutch fitted when the engine was re-installed (not fierce but takes the power well)

Roof has been refurbished and repainted, bumpers, cills and valences all colour coded to body colour. Extra instuments - oil pressure, oil temperature and battery indicator. Fuel cut-off switch and push button starter. New electric windscreeen washer, MOT untill end May 2008Taxed until December this year. New carpets and doors retrimmed. Car comes with Rennshift short shifter, Luke full harnesses fitted (4 point)

The minor negatives - has no heater (small ceramic heater in drivers windscreeen vent) and in an ideal world the seats could probably be retrimmed as there are a couple of small nicks in the drivers seat.

So the Sporto is no longer for sale - are we sure on this? If so I would ammend the For Sale advert for it.

i'm always open to offers on any of my cars. I am afraid i just don't get emosionally attached to cars or anything else for that matter(ask my family :? ) but, for the time being, thanks to Larry sulking, its (i guess) officialy off the market.

Superb car (especially with the minilites), wish I had the dollars to buy it and ship it up here. Hopefully it will go to another DDKer.

well i have had quite a bit of interest, a couple of silly offers and someone who i didn't think would look after it how it deserves to be looked after :?

So at the moment i still have it, its going off to have the new clutch cable adjusted as its stretched a tad over the miles i did last week-end visiting the fairmile.

next week-end i am planning to take it down to yeovil for a 914 drive and visit to the Haynes museum.
then the 9th sept i shall be taking it to Ragley Hall PCGB event.

after that if its still not sold i have arranged for it to go to a dealer who i suspect will be asking several more ££ for it.

so if your thinking of buying this really really good 914 and you don't want me to put the extra miles on it please let me know NOW.

Helen,

What about putting it in the auction at Ragley Hall ?

Would snap your hand off for it if I had the money.

yes i thought about that but, don't really understand how auctions work for the seller.

i don't want them to sell it for peanuts and me end up owing them £1K's commisiion charges.
