Smugglers box lid question.

I have found 2 different types of smugglers box lids, one is flat with lines on the face and the other has what looks like half a tennis ball dent in it ans that too has lines? Which one would i need for my 1970T and why the tennis ball dent?

Any idea on prices for these services please?

Hi Brains Trust! Would this Becker Europa have been OE http://s38.photobucket.com/user/Roygarth/media/_12_zpseafecfc2.jpg.html Thanks Piers I'm fitting a Becker Europa to my 1970 too, but it only has mono speaker output (Which i have been looking for anyway) so i have to use the oval speaker in the...

Re: The cheapest chain tensioner upgrade.

Jeff You are far too worried. Andy/Hassad is dead right, chains do not fail unless the engine is built badly. If you are rebuilding the engine from the crank out, then new chains are link free, ie no removable links to come free. If you change the chains with the short engine still in one piece the...

Re: The cheapest chain tensioner upgrade.

I just worry about the chains breaking, even though it hasn't happened to me yet! i don't particularly want a first time either. I just want a solid solution but not costing the earth. It does sound like the hydraulic tentioners are misbehaving too?

Re: The cheapest chain tensioner upgrade.

Are the hydraulic tentioners available new but cheap? i have seen them for £700 for the kit, frankly i'm not paying that, it's ridiculous. I don't mind spending £200-£300. I think it's extremely unlikely you'll find a hydraulic pressure-fed tensioner kit at anywhere near that price - I sold an exce...

Re: The cheapest chain tensioner upgrade.

The blue tensioners look good, but it is a pain to remove the covers every so often to check the chain. How tight will the chain need to be without putting any strain on it? I've seen snapped over tightened timing belts and it's no a pretty sight. I know it's completely different to chain but it's c...

The cheapest chain tensioner upgrade.

Soon i will be removing the engine from my 911T, it will need the upgrade for the chain. Where would i find a chain tensioner set? I will need the tensioner's, cover plates, steel pipes and unions. Basically the whole kit, i have seen kits for an obscene amount of money but i wondered if there was a...
