I would have said a Mk1 996 GT3 but that boat has probably now sailed (high 30's and up now). When people realise that it doesn't have the same engine issues as anormal 996 and will leave a 964rs behind on a track, they will have negative depreciation for a while. 996tt is a lot of car (this months ...

Wow, that rear end is coming together really well! Outstanding work. I really like the clean lines of the side. Have you considered having the engine vent as a grill along the base of the rear window? A less agressive racey look though. Would love to see the "paper-ed" rear end with a dust...

Angle grinder with cutting disks (occasionally the thin ones but they are fragile). Clean up with a twisted wire brush and flap disks (on angle grinder). Sometimes a small wire brush in a drill for tight spots but that never works that well. Any thing harder to get to gets a blast of "sand"...

Looks like a g10 might be a good place to start.

Then keep my eyes open for something a little bit more special (but still "useable").

Or maybe that would the start of something bad :)

Like the cwc chrono too.
About £300 new for quartz so a scruffy might be in budget if I could find one.

Autos are more like £600+ I think.

Actually, I had looked at the Timex T-series already.

Some of them look alright....... for example for about £120 (an SL series)

A bit flashy for the original purpose but ... hmm.

O/T - More Horology : "garage" watch suggestions?

I have very much enjoyed reading the Watch thread that has evolved over many pages and this spawned a thought. I have one nice watch that I wear everyday. It is not rare or super expensive but a modest Longines. However, I have considered getting another watch that fit the role of a "garage&quo...

All black 996 with full gt3 bodykit on pistonheads for <£14k

13k on a replacement engine.

Frankly I can't see cars like that have much depreciation left. However, the maintenance costs should not be underestimated.

Facets are pushers :)

Should be sited under the fuel level so it doesn't have to self prime.

Will last longer that way.

If they are filling webers you should also get a filter king regulator.

Had a quick google :)

The earlier 90's ex-RAF Seiko pilot's watches look really nice to me. Esp the helicopter version.

The prices on Ebay seem a bit steep though for a Seiko.

Oh, and if you want to go IB..... I really think they need a "heavy" stance to balance the bumpers. So the early one looks like it is trying to be "early-car" pretty and the IB spoil it. However, to me, a "supersport" looks fab and the IB blend in to the more aggressive...

I must say, if I every get a chunky windfall (not going to happen), I would be straight round to Canford Classics.

The quality of work from Alan (& Barry) is very impressive imho. The pictures don't lie.

Good luck with the search Mike!
