Porsche 356 spares for sale
Original front brake setup for 356B. Complete - brake back plates, drums, shoes, cylinders etc. Back plates could do with a clean up and paint and I would assume cylinders would need rebuilt. £1500 OVNO 356A 716 Dual Mount Gearbox casing, Casing number 29331 - date stamped 23/59 - part number 716.30...

Re: Anyone know this original 1958 RHD 356A
Hello MikeB, 50 WMX is my car now, how nice to see it in a period photo. Do you have any more photos of the car? I did indeed buy it from Ireland and brought it back over to the mainland, Scotland this time (It was an original AFN supplied vehicle too, hence the Middlesex registration). sadly I was ...

Re: RHD Speedster burnt out in OZ
All the damage seems to be round the front - exploded battery perhaps?

Re: Slow starter cranking when hot
Thanks Mike / Roy for the additional info... Of course in typical 356 style now that I am armed with additional troubleshooting info the problem has vanished completely. I've enjoyed a trouble free couple of days motoring.... I really hate intermittent problems, they have a nasty habit of returning ...

Slow starter cranking when hot
So just to confirm - a slow cranking starter when the engine is hot points to dodgy earth straps? Anything else I should be looking at in addition to the earths?

Re: Bumper irons
The 356 had two basic types of bumpers through the years. The 356 and 356A bumpers were mounted lower on the chassis, while the 356B and 356C were moved upwards slightly.

Re: Fuel Tank Breather for A
Would you not just need to try running it with the fuel cap removed and see if you still get the issue?

Re: engine cut out - again...
Thanks Roy / Mike, will hopefully get round to looking at the carb issue again in late July - couple of trips abroad to take care of first. Will keep you posted with details.

Re: engine cut out - again...
I operate with Zenith carbs on my 'A' but probably similar concept to the solex carbs. My accelerator pump nozzles deliver squirts of fuel into the venturi on depression of the accelerator or carb crank rods. Each carb has 2 nozzles and at the back of them is a brass nut containing a 'jet hole'. I ...

Hi Bruce - no it's silver with bumpers fitted (most of the time)... I have seen a grey bumper-less 356C around Edinburgh area is this the car you're thinking of?Bruce M wrote:Is your car grey & bumper less?

Re: engine cut out - again...
Finally getting round to looking into this again, been a bit tied up with other non-356 related issues.... Thanks for the reply Mike, regarding the enrichment jets, the jets on the right hand carb give a nice positive strong squirt and a reassuring squirt noise. Not so the left hand carb though, in ...

Re: engine cut out - again...
Thanks Steve / Bruce - it does feel as though we're in the right area, I do seem to be able to get it to fail a bit more consistently now... Started it up OK this morning, left it running for a good 15-20 mins, running well with no issues. Once it's up to temp stopped the engine, waited a while and ...
