What are these early wheels worth?

Post by sprintstar67 »

I have a set of two pairs, one pair are deep 5.5" "hearts" (I believe the yanks call them?) and the others are early deep 6"s.
All straight, all polished, but detailed in a lovely turquoise of the Cal beetle they are on! This is quite an "important" Cal-look car, (if there is such a thing!) but I may be persuaded to part with them and just buy a new set of Flat4 repros for it. Just wondering if its worth the effort.

Cheers, Andy

Are they the wheels off the Turqoise Cal Convertible of Southend fame from the early 90s?

You mean 1987 and pre-Bugjam?
Who's been talking!!? I've been rumbled!

Yes, Andy Barry's Blue '62 Cabrio. The GCC poster car. It'll be some months before I start this project, but just weighing up the options.

Andy,

Depending on what condition they are in, I would say probably around 1,500 if they are in as good as new, maybe even slightly more.

Personally I wouldn't get rid of them but I guess they would go some way to helping fund the project.

I know the exact car you are talking about. Very much into my V-dubs when younger and building up a '66 looker at the moment which will also be running on 5.5 and 6.0 front and back with a set of Mahle Gas Burners for special occasions.

Cheers,

Ben
