Thanks James. I wondered if it was for the hard line, although the clip close to it also seems a likely suspect as well hence me searching for clarification.
I know there were two lines on some cars (not mine), and so far I've had one vote for each.

So just so I'm clear, the rubber fuel hose comes from the filter and joins onto the hard line that emerges out of the chassis conduit shown in my photo?

make sure you get the rubber bungs to fir that chassis tube for the fuel line to go through

For reference, this is the rubber grommet that goes in the conduit (from memory, one at the top in the engine compartment & one underneath where the rigid fuel pipe enters the conduit) :
