Just got my Classic Porsche mag and Mr Editor seems to be globe trotting to find interesting bits of kit for us to see and read about. I was wondering if he ever got over to California to meet up with the R Gruppe bunch who collectively have enough wild and wicked stuff to fill his pages for quite a few editions.
Plus, if he got onto the coat tails of the Stoddard tour bus and reported on all the shops visited after the LA Lit Meet there would be enough stuff to fill his mag for a couple of years. And who likes the new Porsche Post? Alright, I'm going now.

Quite right Graham, although "yer man" doesn't have to go all the way to California! RGruppe Europe Chapter has a handful of members in UK/Ireland and a further 35 or so in Continental Europe [mostly in Holland} - nearly all of whom have pretty cool cars as by definition you cant get in without them!
I doubt he's even heard of us though...............

Subscribe to 911S registry - you get a great quarterly magazine (tried digital and they have reversed decision)
More of an enthusiasts mag than just sponsored/paid for pieces. CP is very formulaic. And the editor hates 911T’s - I could go on….

Magazine politics aside this seems like a great opportunity to post picture of your favourite R Gruppe and R Gruppe inspired cars...

Bob Tilton & I became friends over our mutual interest in R20 - the final 'production' 911R - when it was still part of the Matsuda Collection in Japan & I was lucky enough to ride with him in his car at Rennsport Reunion IV.

It also greatly influenced the look of my 911R-inspired car ~ 20 yrs ago, which, in turn, led to me being invited to join RGruppe by Cris Huergas (joint founder of RGruppe & owner of the white '69S above posted by Ollie). I was member # 105.

There are so many iconic cars within RGruppe which makes it impossible to pick a favourite but one of mine would have to be 'Sloop II' - Kurt Zimmerman's tribute to his former boss Richie Ginther - so many unique features & powered by an Andial-built twin plug slide valve 3.5 litre engine ...

R20 was the yellow, then blue 911R Andy? Where is it now?

.

R20 was Silver when part of the Matsuda Collection:

-it was that version that influenced the build of my car:

R20 was then bought by Early S Registry member 'Raj' Sivalingam who returned it to its original Reventlow Blue:

I didn't keep track of it after that.

Loved that car Andy ! Didn't Mick end up with it and the engine went in your 904 ?

There are plenty of R Gruppe worthy DDK cars, though with anything cool and worthwhile it's equal parts car, people and stories.

Wonder if we need a splinter group. I'll get the ball rolling with :

" ARE LOT "

:)

My favourite Rgruppe car. Good looking bloke driving it too….

Rgruppe is really just the American DDK. Same enthusiasm, great members, passionate drivers and awesome driving trips. Honoured to have done many both sides of the pond with both groups.
