DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

So here goes…having owned this beauty for about 13 years now and tbh was purchased knowingly with at the time some slight body work issues the time has now come for these and more to be rectified..I’ve just been too busy enjoying driving Kit, met lots of really lovely people along the way with some become good friends

Some pictures that have been sent over the past couple of days from Ross up here just outside of Glasgow who is going to be putting Kit back together hopefully sooner rather than later, will just need to see how it goes depending on sourcing panels, floor etc..

This kidney bowl here apparently has never been welded on…it’s only been stuck on with what looks like silicon

Ooh, that’s bringing back some memories.
Keep the photos flowing please - it will make my (new to me) front wing refresh seem a walk in the park.

Looks like you’re making progress on the strip down. What is the plan, are you going to full strip to a bare shell or tackle things more locally? How long is the work expected to take?

I had the front wings and scuttle replaced about 8 years ago so at least these should be okay

Its now looking like full strip and rebuild, going to pop over and see Kit and get a wee blether with Ross over the weekend as hopefully should have the full shopping list by then.

I got my body panels at Glasgow OPC who had a classic status department at the time. Don’t know if they still do. Pretty sure I got a small DDK discount too. Paul was the boss then. John Spiers or Danny were in the Classic department then. Probably long gone but worth a call.

Hi Margaret, Big job incoming!

From my own buy cheap buy twice experience stick to Porsche for all outer panels including sills and kidney bowls.
Floors, inner sill, parcel shelf etc I used Restoration Design parts and they were all pretty good. Need a bit of fitting for sure, but overall decent.

And the OPC should give you 10% as you’ll be spending a couple of quid! Chester and Wilmslow did for me.

Re Porsche panels my understanding was that these were the most labour intensive to fit and not the best quality, this was about 8 years ago when I ended up buying 2 Dansk front wings that were not as labour intensive as Porsche panels and I’m sure at that time there was negative chat re the quality of the metal Porsche used..I also had a look at Restoration design site this morning and looks like they have good stock also..some more pictures that I received earlier on to follow, poor Kit
