I can now announce the DDK Trackday details

Slight change of plan from original, but I hope this appeal to more of you

FRIDAY OCTOBER 21st - CADWELL PARK ( The Mini Nurburgring )

We have been able to negotiate a special DDK rate for a trackday held @ Cadwell Park in Lincs. The organisers are very pleased to offer the DDK a special rate + DDK only tracktime.

As part of the DDK deal, the organisers will give full track breifing & circuit guides will be available. To start with a 'beginners' 20 minute DDK only session, which will be a 'follow my leader' affair around the track instructing us on the best lines, etc etc

The day is organised as an 'open pit lane' but there is the possibility of DDK only sessions.

In addittion there might be some special surprises availale only for DDK members ( think 'hot' laps in the passenger seats of something very special )

So you are aware, there will be other users on the track, BUT there will not be many . This trackday has been organised by one of the best trackday companies in the country who know what they are doing.

Normal price for this event is £160.

DDK members price £139 , could be less if we get enough people.

IMHO this will be a superb trackday for DDK track virgins ( like myself ) on a proper race track. Cadwell is known as the 'mini Nurburgring'

I already have a number of people who are interested / have said they want to come. Book time off work & come and have a fun day socialising & driving with fellow DDK'ers

History of Cadwell Park
Set in the rolling Lincolnshire countryside, Cadwell Park was established in 1934. The length of the track, nicknamed the 'mini Nurburgring', almost doubled to 1.3 miles in 1953, when the ascendant 500cc motorcycle-engined Formula 3 class was invited to race in a traditional bike meeting. Reg Spreckley thus became the track's first car race winner in his Cooper. Some 30,000 spectators were said to have watched the meeting.

The original track, with its fearsome and photogenic Mountain feature, grew to its current 2.25-mile layout in 1962 and hosted the British F3 series the following May. It has three configurations – the rarely used Woodlands circuit, the short Club circuit, and the splendid, daunting Full circuit.

These days, its car racing exploits are confined to club meetings but they are invariably crackers, the track's swooping nature providing fantastic racing.

We have not officially booked this yet, but I need 10 cars , which I'm sure we will get

There are loads of dates available for Elvington in November, but I think Cadwell will give a better experience IF there is not enough interest and a Sunday @ Elvington would be better, then we could have 20th Nov @ Elvington

Also iF there was enough interest, we could have a day @ Elvington next Aug on the Monday following the DDK Northern Weekend

It's a super track and I envy anyone who can make it. Unfortunately, my resto is running eighteen months behind sked so it might be a while before I get that 'dry mouth' feeling when you realise you are pushing beyond your previous limits!

Cadwell is the only track I've ever driven in a 911 (on a PCGB day) and whilst it rained all day, it was great fun . Two attendees wrote their cars off (one IMHO was red mist induced, the other aquaplaned off at very high speed on the back straight).

There are some challenging corners, long sweepers and a fast straight, even one corner (gooseneck?) that if you get it right pulls you through it, but if you don't you'll be off! I haven't had the pleasure of the Woodlands Circuit as they usually turn you around at the hairpin just before the mountain section, but I bet this would be good (if challenging).

The bad news is, I'm not sure I can make next Friday - very doubtful at best .

Ian, let me know asap if you can / cannot make it.

As I posted earlier, IF we are going to struggle with this date @ Cadwell I can get elvington for the 20th November.

Cadwell is cool, although I've never driven it I spectated at a motorbike trackday, offical cameraman for my mate

Shame that E-type vid has some dodgy 'On Safari' sound track rather than the Jag engine.

Too short notice for me I'm afraid though would defo be up for another DDK outing to Cadwell.

Cadwell is great, I did a bike day there when I had a ZXR750 and it frightened the life out of me However, my MOT ran out yesterday, I've not made an appointment yet to renew it and not sure I can make next Friday (just too short notice).

Will keep an eye on the post and if things change I might be a last minute addition to the ranks.

I have a feeling this might be too short notice for most people.

I'll keep this thread active until tomorrow then let you know of the plans.

Myself and another DDK'er are still doing this Cadwell Event , BUT I am now organising the DDK ONLY trackday @ Elvington for Sunday 20th November. Please see other post in teh 'General Section'

... perhaps if I came home from holiday one day early ??
