Window felt difficulties

Hi Folks,
I'm in the process of fitting new window felts and wondered if anyone had opinions or tips. the glass is almost impossible to squeeze into the front channel its so tight. I have the correct (I assume) felt from Bray, and I'm struggling to get the glass in there. Has anyone been through the same process? I'm wary of exploding the glass with the staps... I haven't tried any product on the felt as yet.

Appreciate any pointers.
Damon.

Ive had issues with these,Assuming its the correct part.Did you clean out the channels thoroughly.I find a dremmel with a wire wheel best. Then its a case of lubing it(washing up liquid) and postioning it best you can, to assure eveness around frame. If it still wont sit, some 80 grit on a block and sand down the edges till it does.

Only have experience fitting 911/912.....From memory it was"just" a case of cleaning out the channels of old debris and using some car shampoo as a lube when inserting the new felt/rubber.

The tension straps look bit scary with the original glass

Good luck !

Further investigation into bubbles at bottom of the drivers side door. I am guessing this is also to do with the old seals !

I found random washers, coins and unidentified objects. Looks like the major bubbles have been patched over at some point, with a liberal amount of filler. Best option was to cut out completely and plan a new patch. The drivers door has been resprayed at some point (I am guessing when the original repair was done), it is ever so slightly a different shade to the rest of the car. I will have some fresh paint mixed and resprayed once repaired.

In the meantime, new frames seals fitted, including vent seals, Main seals are the 1-piece aftermarket version, I fitted these on the ModRod and work fine...

I think unlike the 911/912 the 356 front rail is a different part, its not the more open larger squsre felt, its some thinner tighter gubbins, no wonder they changed it.
I may try some lube coomo, I have PTFE dry spray (leftover from my Samba sunroof) or the liquid soap, I'm happy to try anything that works. The channel is def clean, this bloody rubber not a great fit, I wonder what the OEM one looked like back in the day.

Edit: PTFE spray can left the chat. Tries some soapy water, seemed to have helped, I've left the window in the frame to hopefully acclimatise the channel a bit
