6v generator rebuild?

Took my generator apart with the hope of rebuilding it as a backup but looks like the armature is completely gone and maybe the body too? What do you think?
I think I might just be buying another alternator as backup instead.

Neil if the case is ok,Id give these guys a call.Theyve rebuilt plenty for me over years,currently sorting an early W/W motor for me.

Thank you. I had it rebuilt previously by a good company so I certainly could send it there again but this time I'm going to try myself.
I found a rebuild kit for 270 but I can buy another alternator for 235

I continued the strip down but I can move the large screws in the body. I've put oil on them. I've given them a good wack with my hammer screwdriver but nothing? Any ideas? Took me ages to get the clips off. My clip pliers where useless and I had to use two screwdrivers.
I bought a press and put it to use straight away. I think it's going to be like the air compressor. A tool once you have you don't know how you ever did without

The screws refused to move after having oil on them for a night. I realised that some of the wire has become wrapped under the plates they connect to. These are probably increasing the tension. I will have a go again next weekend. If not I think I will have to drill. I'm reluctant to use my crude heat torch on it as it isn't focused enough and I don't want to warp the case

I'd be inclined to use a bit of heat Neil - I don't think you're likely to distort the case with a DIY type butane torch used for a few minutes at a time.
I'd also get yourself an impact screwdriver - I've had one like this for ~ 30 years & they're ideal for this type of situation :
- there's usually a few good/used ones (there's not really anything that can go wrong with them) on ebay.

I've got a spare 6V generator from a VW Karmann Ghia, are they the same? Is it any use?

I have an impact screwdriver and I've been giving it a proper bash but no luck.

That might be of use. I think it depends on whether is the 90mm version?
According to Bruce Smith. The good numbers are
Model Bosch part number
356A/B to 9/59 LJ/GE 160/6/2500 L2
356B/C from 10/59 6V LJ/GEG 200/6/2600 L19
A quick bit of research reveals that it will work with perhaps some rewiring.

It's still not coming out. I've applied heat and oil but it's not moving. I've drilled a hole in it and dare not go any wider without damaging the thread but still not moving. I might end up asking someone to weld a bolt on for me
