Insurance for young drivers - Porsche 914 - any ideas folks?

Hi All

Any body got any clever ideas how my son can insure a 914.

Not yet actually ..... he is doing it up.
He is 17 and not yet passed his test.
He will be 18 by the time it would be nice to get some insurance tio drive it.

Last year I got quotes for about £1500 (either in my name with him as a named driver or the other way round - I forget which tbh)
but since then quotes for young people have leaped up and those quotes are no longer available.

He currently has a policy in his name to insure his mother's car. (as a learner driver)
And I'm thinking he can get a policy to insure it 'off the road' while he's doing it up.

Has anyone got any experience of getting policies/insurance ..... or any ideas / strategies.

Ive been ringing around for him ....... what a mind numbingly tedious exercise it is.

Thanks in advance

Dom

A high excess will reduce the quote. Low mileage. Plus a tracker. Also, no use for commercial or commuting.

Insure him fully comp on e.g. an old micra and insure the 914 in your name and let him be a secondary driver 3rd party.

Thanks Rob
Ill enquire about the tracker and low milage and report back.
Last year the 914 in my name with him as a named driver approach was working .... this year .... they wont do it for some reason.
But ill keep enquiring...
