Fuchs finish (the black bit)

Whilst browsing pictures of old 911/912 on the internet (as you do) I came across a car with the black portion of the Fuchs finished as in the picture, first time I saw it I thought it was wrong but then came across another one the same (actually one the 000 magazine Instagram)
I know someone here will put me right so is this correct?
I always assumed the black extended between the “petals” and the rim 🤔

Only the original 1967 4.5in Fuchs wheels (as fitted to '67 911S models) were finished like this:

And notice the difference in the wheel nuts which is also correct….

When I was at Harvey Weidman's place many years ago he showed me what he does when restoring 4.5in Fuchs for customers - which is to strip the (black) anodising from a set of new wheel nuts then re-anodise them with a clear finish ...
