I'm probably the only one that has been during this wrong. Skip to 1:30 in the video
4500 rpm and let the clutch out quickly so the car jumps forward according to the Stig.

All depends on the car, tyres, track conditions... A multitude of variables. Biggest thing is to ignore everyone else and become one with your car.

^^^ Dead right!
You can watch many, Jonathan W is something to see, but just try to emulate him...
In my 911 it was 4000 and dump the clutch, seemed ok to me esp when the whole drive train was changed to polybushes, list 1B tyres.
Next came the Subaru Impeza, 370 bhp, 4x4 and slicks, 4500 and lift the clutch leg asap. No rubber anywhere in the chassis or drivetrain. Snapped a drive shaft once, but rest ok for 4 years.
Next came the Lola, 560Kg and wide slicks, 240 bhp or so. 4000 and lift the clutch leg asap. Lots of wheelspin at times, wet starts a nightmare. @ 320 bhp harder still. 2 second 64 foot times similar to the Impreza. (1g accelleration, 911 was 2.3/2.2)
3 very different cars, and each needed refinement from the driver, times off the start line very similar!
Back to Jonathan: Experience counts.
