Thanks Hugo. It’s strange to have bought a car I’ve never driven, but hey, it’ll be an emotional journey for all sorts of reasons! I certainly hope it can have its original number - the Frazer Nash Archive will be helping me with that.

Thanks Jason. I really don’t know quite what I’ll think when I see it in the flesh for the first time, but splendid is probably the right word. It’s a totally different era of motoring for me!

Wonderful story Jeremy! It's amazing the interesting people that you meet through our hobby, It's as much about the people as it is the cars.
You must take it up to Bo'ness some time for their Revival weekend, they would be delighted.
I look forward to seeing the BMW sometime soon!!

My cousin Tony and I left for Germany on Monday and yesterday we arrived in Greven to see the Frazer Nash/BMW for the first time, and get it loaded on the transporter.

That first glimpse as Wolfgang Klinke opened his garage doors was captivating, the day that dog eared photos became reality.






It became apparent that the 1936 Frazer Nash /BMW is in wonderful condition, having seen very little use since a long and thorough restoration.

The rest of Wolfgang’s garage showed a life long passion for BMW’s and the odd English marque too.




The story of the car in its more recent years has been about these two men - the two Wolfgangs. On the right is Wolfgang Schrunder, a serial collector and lover of old BMW’s who secured our father’s old car ASC131 in a very poor state in the 1970’s and put it in his large collection to begin restoring. That finished last year, sadly just before his own death.

Wolfgang Klinke then took it on, always knowing that his friend expected that the RHD car would one day return to the UK (where it originally began its life in Scotland).

He took me for a drive in it, with a wonderful sound from its 1900 cc engine (which I’ll be putting in a film very soon). We did the paperwork and saw it safely loaded on the transporter.











Along the way, Tony and I reconnected as cousins, and we talked and learned a lot about our father’s passion for cars - of which more later.

What a great story Jeremy and a fabulous result. Truly the stuff of dreams! Many congratulations and I look forward to hearing about your adventures when the car is back in the U.K.

Fabulous story with an incredible outcome. The more I get into pre war cars, the more I enjoy them but it is a sad truth that the owners and keepers are slipping away from us. Keep them running, these old cars need to be used, enjoyed and kept out of museums!

What a great story Jeremy. Funny how fate played it's hand in not allowing you to buy the first car, but led you on a a path to acquiring the car that I think in your heart you always wanted.
