Precision Matters Air Filter Adapter Plates

Has anyone fitted these so you can use the original Solex air filters. If so can you tell me how you fitted the throttle return springs onto the spring perch slots. I was thinking of drilling a small hole in the slot so the spring passes through from underneath.
