DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi, I am a new member based in Berkshire and I have managed to acquire myself a 1970 911T 2.2. The previous owner imported it from California and did intent to do a complete restore. But as always life got in the way and it then meant I had the opportunity to buy and take on the project.

I was told by the pervious owner about DDK and how members had helped him. So here I am. My short term plan is to get the car back on the road and slowly do bit and bobs to it, upgrade and ensure things at least don't deteriate. Longer term (10-15 years) I aim to do a full restore but will need to start saving my pennies for that


I am no mechanic but a keep learner and aim to take on most of the jobs myself and obviously with the help of you guys. The car was originally forward dated to look similar to a G body turbo but the previous owner had stated to take it back to original 1970 look but with an RS duck tail. I like this and intent to keep this look.


Here are a couple of picture and please suggest the first jobs I should be thinking about over the winter.

Winter jobs assuming you want to drive it in spring.….. check and replace all flexi fuel,lines if they haven’t already and also go through the brakes.

As said, TONS of help readily available on here about anything about these cars.

I bought my 73T in 1988 when there was no internet(!) and could hardly spell Porsche let along fix one.
I bought a basket of a car and have been through every part of mine, learning along the way. Assuming (sorry) that you may be in a similar position I would suggest you buy the Haynes workshop manual and also the Lindsay Porter book on restoring them. The latter has a few flaws in it, but covers an awful lot on body, brakes engines etc.
I think you will find them a real asset.

As Hot66/ James says, get it safe, approach the car as if you are getting it ready for a good MoT.

Rust will be the real issue, the rest of the car is simple mechanics and parts are easy to get, just a bit expensive. They are a bit odd in places, but all classic cars are.

Many use Design911 or Type911 for the parts.

Google and YouTube will be good friends too, bit different to me in 1988!
